Short: Updated (v0.96) code for QuakePlayer Author: info@clickboom.com (clickBOOM) Type: game/demo Architecture: m68k-amigaos Download this archive if you have a previous version of Quake Player, and decompress it to QuakePlayer directory. If you don't have v0.95, you must download the full install (QuakePlayer096.lha) - 6Mb. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a non-playable demo of Quake Amiga. It is much more than a slideshow, that is why it's called the Quake Player. It allows you to view Quake demos, both the ones found in the game, as well as a vast number of demos from Internet. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quake Player does not just display presaved pictures, IT ACTUALLY RENDERS THE WHOLE GAMEPLAY IN REAL TIME AS IF YOU WERE PLAYING IT !!! Thus, speed you see is the actual speed you will be getting in the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note 1: Game speed over Internet in full version will depend on the quality of your connection! Note 2: Gameplay will seem slightly smoother when watching demos than when actually controlling the game because there is no "eye-hand" interaction involved. Note 3: On CPU less than 060 reduce the screen size to 50% (from Options or Graphics menu) Note 4: If you don't have a sound board, use custom sound routines, they are much faster then AHI. Note 5: If you have anything less than 50Mhz 030, don't bother downloading, your computer is way too slow for Quake. OPTIONS All the options from the game are available in Quake Player. Press ESC, and use regular PC-like options, or Amiga-style menus. First time you press ESC it will take some time to load and display the menu. Next time it loads it from buffer and displays faster. Feel free to set resolution, sound and other options. Obviously, starting the game, choosing maps, etc. will not give any results. LIMITATIONS - Quake player can only play demos from Maps 3,4 and 6 of the first Quake episode. (Therefore, qdq100 or similar will not work). Why 3 levels only? So you would have more fun when you get the full version! - Some demos like "Artifact" are marked as one-map only, but actually contain scenes from other levels. Those can only be played with a full version of Quake Amiga. - Quake player will only play demos if it can find .pak file for them. QUAKE IS (C) 1996,1997 ID SOFTWARE, INC. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
