Short: The NewIcons Backdrop Set #1 Author: r.mcvey@genie.geis.com (Roger McVey) Uploader: vedovatt u washington edu (Philip A Vedovatti) Type: pix/back Architecture: generic T H E N E W I C O N S B A C K D R O P S E T ----- --------------- --------------- ----- This is the first installment of visually stunning WorkBench backdrops for the NewIcons environment. It contains over 100 seamless backdrops of varying bitplane depths, up to 256 colors. The artist, Roger McVey, is well known for his original RDM_Icons sets and as the icon artist for the NewIcons package. If you haven't seen the NewIcons package, you can get it from Aminet FTP sites as "NewIcons.lha" in the util/wb directory. The package enhances the Amiga GUI in a revolutionary new way, allowing one to use icons on their system no matter what their palette is set to on an AGA machine. The package comes complete with a full set of beautiful, 16 color Workbench icons, drawn by Roger McVey. The NewIcons package programs were written by Nicola Salmoria. Included with NewIcons is the DefIcons system, which further enhances your Workbench environment by identifying files without icons and displaying the appropriate icon for it. Deficons recognizes many, many file types and even recognizes default tools for various file types. Both NewIcons and Deficons are OS2.04 compatible as well as AGA compatible. Icons are limited to 16 colors on an ECS machine, and 256 colors on an AGA machine. These backdrops complement the NewIcons system, in that the NewIcons base palette includes the colors in these graphics, thus saving system resources and available dynamically allocated Workbench colors. Coming soon will be additional extra packages for the NewIcons environment, including a supplemental icon set of over 400 more of Roger's gorgeous icons, with icon images for games, The Video Toaster system, and DOZENS of other software packages. A NewIcons icon image editor, complete with templates for the common NewIcons object images will also be released soon. As always, the NewIcons Package and the supplemental sets are freeware. Enjoy!
