Short: Amiga500-WB-Backdrop image in 724x566x4 by TMU Author: unix287@ai.fh-nuernberg.de (Ruediger Engel) Uploader: unix287 ai fh-nuernberg de (Ruediger Engel) Type: pix/back Architecture: generic After uploading the file "a500ocs.jpg" to aminet I received several replies with requests for the image only. As a reaction to this and as a tribute to the work done by the team at http://www.amigaos.com I now release "miracle of life" in full iff-quality. In fact the jpg-shot was of really poor quality compared to the oiginal iff. I would call it a mistake having uploaded it as jpg. The picture was originally in 1024x768x24 and can be downloaded from http://www.amigaos.com in the section about Classic-Amiga-AddOns. To take full profit of the image as a backdrop on your own OCS-Workbench you will need some software installed: At first you'll need OS 3.x which is in my humble opinion the only way to set up backdrop images at all. If there's a way to do the same with OS 2.x, let me know ! Second you'll need something that lets you lock all 16 colors. I am using "Scalos" which provides me this possibility and also has a quite well done way of handling backdrops. If you are using "NewIcons" the icons should look quite well with or without rendering. NewIcons makes use of all the 16 colors and they are quite well different. If you do only use the standard Workbench icons you won't have a problem with the icons' colors at all: The first four colors of the image are still the standard Workbench colors grey, black, white and blue. Adapting the image to smaller sizes should be no problem using PPaint.
